Repair

Regripping
The grip is an important component in a golf club make up. It is the only contact we as a golfer has with the club and is key in transferring power from the downswing through the club to the ball. A dirty or worn grip can compromise this and even worse a badly worn smooth grip in wet weather can be dangerous (ask anybody who has had a near miss as a club flies through the air). If you play three or four time a month it is recommended you replace your grips every year.
Our regripping service covers from a single club through to a full set. We can offer grips from all the major manufacturers to some less well known covering all budgets.
Often overlooked is the actual size of the grip. Not only for the feel of the club in your hands but either too big or too small can have a huge effect on your ability to return the clubface to square at impact. We can measure and fit the correct grip to the size of your hands or add extra layers of tape if preferred.

The price for a standard regrip is - £2.50 per club (plus the price of the grip of your choice).
The price for a putter regrip is - £3.50 per club (plus the price of the grip of your choice).
To thicken an existing grip will be - £3.00 per grip

Reshafting
Broken or snapped shaft or replacing an old shaft or upgrading to try and improve length and or dispersion?
We can reshaft either steel or graphite shafts. Our reshafting service covers from a single club through to a full set. We can offer shafts both steel and graphite from all the major manufacturers to some less well known covering all budgets.
It is recommended that with every installation of a new shaft it is spine aligned. Please refer to section on spine alignment.

Steel Shafts:
The price for reshafting a steel shaft is dependent on whether a new grip is required or we are asked to save and reuse an existing grip where possible.

Reattach loose head to existing shaft - £7.50
Reshaft with new grip - £10.00 (plus the price of the shaft and grip of your choice).

Reshaft saving existing grip - £12.00 (plus the price of the shaft of your choice).

Graphite Shafts:
With the advent of adjustable Drivers, Fairway Woods etc. the reshafting of these clubs has become more complicated with the variety of options available.

By virtue of the graphite material involved pulling a graphite shaft is more complex than that of a steel shaft especially if the shaft and or the adapter are to be saved. To ensure your shaft is not damaged, this work should only be carried out by an experienced professional with the correct equipment.
The pricing options for reshafting a graphite shaft are dependent on whether a new grip and or adapter is required or we are asked to save and reuse the existing grip and or adapter where possible.

Pull and save shaft - £5.00
Reattach loose head to existing shaft - £7.50

Pull Shaft and save adapter - £8.00
Reshaft - direct fitted with new grip - £12.00 (plus the price of the shaft and grip of your choice).
Reshaft - direct fitted saving existing grip - £15.00 (plus the price of the shaft of your choice).
Reshaft - adapter fitted with new grip - £15.00 (plus the price of the shaft and grip of your choice).
Reshaft - adapter fitted saving existing grip - £18.00 (plus the price of the shaft of your choice).
Switch two shafts saving adapters - £25.00

Shaft Length Adjustment
We can shorten or lengthen your clubs providing new grips or saving your grips if required.
However it is not just a case of cutting off or adding on, all depending on how much is being cut off or added on can make a difference in the weight and flex of the club.
Cutting down clubs shorter will make the swing weight lower; a ½ inch cut off would lose 3 swing weights (1 swing weight is around 2grams) .

We extend all woods and irons using graphite and steel extenders.

To shorten a steel or Graphite shaft saving existing grip - £6.00
To lengthen a steel shaft saving existing grip - £8.00
To lengthen graphite shaft saving existing grip - £10.00

Loft & Lie adjustments
The loft and lie angle is one of the key characteristics of any golf club. If the lie of your golf clubs is not correct for your type of golf swing it can affect how consistently you make good contact with the ball.
The lie angle may need to be adjusted based on the relative height of a golfer. Additionally if used regularly on a golf range or hard ground the lie angle will almost certainly need adjustment.

Loft adjustment - £3.00 per club
Lie Adjustment - £3.00 per club
Loft & Lie adjustment carried out together - £4.50 per club

Please note that we can only adjust loft and lie on irons.

Softer forged irons and more modern investment cast irons are all more adaptable with regard to the bending process. Older cast clubs (especially Ping), because of the harder steel used may not be suitable due to its resistance to bending or the chance of fracture or snapping of the hosel.
If you need any advice in relation to any of the above please call the workshop on 07710005460 and we will be happy to help.

Spine Alignment
What is a spine? To put it in simple terms, every golf shaft has a “spine” that results from the manufacturing process. It is a fact that all shafts -- steel and graphite -- have some degree of spine.  This is because it is impossible to make a shaft which has perfectly symmetrical bending properties all the way up, down and around the shaft for the prices demanded by the major golf companies. Therefore, no shaft bends the exact same amount under the exact same force in all directions.
A Spine should be visualized as a backbone or ridge in the golf shaft, running down its length, more resistant to bending than any other part of the shaft.
At 90 degrees to the spine is the NBP or the natural bending position this is the weakest part of the shaft and will give the maximum flex.

What is Spine Alignment? So where should you put the soft side (NBP) or the stiff side spine. The weight of evidence is that having the NBP aligned at the target allows maximum kick through the ball at impact and having the spine aligned to the club toe minimizes the tendency of the club to droop and allows the club to return square to impact.
So here is the issue. Club manufacturers supplying the mass market are not spine aligning their shafts, for a very simple reason, this process takes time and requires a skill level that does not lend itself to their assembly lines.
What can be done? Via a two stage process of spining and FLO it is possible to find the shafts spine and NBP, once found, the shaft is aligned and correctly installed into the club head so the shaft works with your swing and not against it.
Can I have my shafts aligned ? Yes, regardless of whether you are having new golf clubs built or you are re-shafting your old equipment you can benefit from this technology. In a recent test all golfers tested showed impact repeatability improved from 14 to 51% when changing from non-aligned to spine aligned golf clubs
We put the shaft into our spine finder and find the softest axis NBP of the shaft, this is the spot the shaft wants to snap to when it's placed under load. This point is then marked on the shaft. Then the butt of the shaft is clamped and a laser mounted to the shaft. The shaft is then oscillated along the intended target line and the oscillations of the laser are noted. The shaft will be rotated a few degrees at a time until a perfectly flat line oscillation is shown (FLO). With the shaft in this position both the NBP and spine is identified allowing the shaft to be correctly installed into the club head.
This service is available for both irons and woods.
Please note that the spining and FLO process means that it may not be possible to match up the silkscreen logo of graphite shafts, nor the shaft band of steel shafts. Also once a shaft has been aligned into an adapter any future adjustment to a different setting will misalign the shaft. If that is the case we can remove the shaft and realign it to the new setting.

To align a new shaft - £3.00

Refurbish
They say that a lot of golf is played in the six inches between the ears i.e. in the mind. So looking down on a tired worn looking golf club does nothing to build the confidence. Also it is quite astonishing the number of golfers who do not clean their clubs between rounds or never clean them at all!! Not realising the effect a dirty poorly maintained club has on the performance and ultimately your enjoyment of the game.
But all is not lost we can provide a refurbishment service ranging from a general clean and polish to a full club refurbishment. Please see below for details of what’s included.

All refurbishment services are available for irons and woods both steel or graphite shafted.

If you want a shiny mirror finish or a brushed steel satin look, which is very popular with the latest modern irons we've got that covered.

The Technical Bit
The difference between Cast and Forged irons.
Cast irons are manufactured in a mould using molten steel or stainless steel this gives a harder wearing club.
Forged irons are formed from a solid billet of softer carbon steel and mostly then plated with a chrome or nickel finish. Although perceived to give a better feel forged clubs can suffer from greater deterioration as the plating wears forming areas of rust especially on the sole of wedges and rust spots on the face. Also the softer carbon steel is prone to deeper nicks and dings than the harder cast club. This often means that forged clubs cannot be refurbished to the same degree as a cast club as further damage to the chrome plating could occur.

Basic  Clean and Polish
This is a basic clean and polish. All heads and grips will be thoroughly cleaned; the head will then go through a polishing process where surface scratches will be removed where possible or flattened leaving the club with a nice shine or sheen. The process will be topped off with a coating of protective metal polish.

Basic Clean and Polish  - £4.00 per club

Enhanced Clean and Polish
Heads and grips will be thoroughly cleaned. For a cast club the head will then go through a multi stage sanding procedure where deeper scratches and small dinks will be removed or flattened where possible. Please note that not all dinks can be completely removed due to the amount of metal that may need to be ground away. This would be followed by a three stage polishing process leaving a high shine.  The process will be finished with a coating of protective metal polish.

As set out above it is extremely difficult to attempt to sand to remove deep scratches and dings from forged clubs without further compromising the chrome or nickel plating and therefore not recommended. Another option for forged clubs is to forgo the sanding process and to replace with a procedure using different grades of Scotchbrite type mops to gradually abrade the surface to give a softer satin finish. The process will be finished with a coating of protective metal polish.

The above process is also available for cast irons leaving them with a brushed steel finish.

Enhanced Clean and Polish £8.00 per club

Superior Clean and Polish
All the processes of the enhanced service plus the addition of all grooves sharpened and all numbers and indented lettering will be re painted to the colour of your choice.

Superior Clean and Polish £10 per club
